Areum Kim, M.Ed., Pre-LPC
Pre-Licensed Professional Counselor
Sometimes the ways we respond to life make sense when we understand what we have been carrying. Anxiety, self-doubt, relationship struggles, and competing expectations can leave us feeling stuck. I believe counseling can be a space to slow down, feel heard, and explore your experiences without judgment. My approach is collaborative and trauma-informed, creating space to make sense of your experiences, deepen self-understanding, and develop a more compassionate relationship with yourself and others.
Having lived and worked across Korea, the Philippines, the United States, and Australia, I bring a multicultural perspective to my work. My psychiatric research experience also informs my commitment to thoughtful, evidence-informed care. I am particularly passionate about supporting individuals navigating cultural identity, belonging, life transitions, and interpersonal challenges.
I also enjoy working with children and adolescents. As a former educator with training in play therapy, I help young people navigate big emotions, relationships, and developmental milestones in a space tailored to their individual needs.
I am currently completing my M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Wheaton College. My hope is to create a space where you can better understand your patterns, recognize the strengths you already carry, and experience meaningful, lasting change.
