Amy J Yang, MD
PsychiatristI describe myself as a holistic psychiatrist with emphasis on nature therapy, group therapy, and creative arts. I studied medicine at SUNY Downstate, received residency training at the University of Chicago, and worked at the VA before opening my private practice. I currently hold a leadership role in the American Group Psychotherapy Association.
In my practice I offer psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and group therapy. My focus includes mental health issues related to schools, immigration and acculturation issues, as well as identity as related to our place in society. I use creative arts to help express feelings and as a door to our unconscious. I also focus on mind-body connections and mental health issues related to physical or medical symptoms. Through my own experience with whole-body treatment, I frequently incorporate complementary modalities for integrative healing.
Besides clinical work, I also offer coaching with specific focus on career coaching and professional development. I love working with students, trainees, as well as those in the education and medical/mental health professions. I am invested in the issue of physician and professional burnout and am working to incorporate these topics into my practice.
In my time outside of psychiatry and clinical practice, I enjoy playing the piano, composing, and hiking and paddling.Office Locations:
