Elizabeth Yoo-lae Cho, LPC, ATR-P
Licensed Professional Counselor, Art Therapy-ProvisionalI’m a Chicago-based, second-generation Korean American art therapist and counselor, currently pursuing a dual career as both a therapist and a working artist. I received my MA in Art Therapy & Counseling and BFA Studio Arts at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. My clinical experience includes work with youth and in outpatient settings with immigrant & refugee communities, and individuals living with chronic illness or intellectual disabilities.
Born and raised in the U.S., I bring both clinical and holistic perspectives into therapy, creating space for self-expression. My sessions often include appropriate doses of humor and comfort because I believe healing happens best when joy, safety, and connection are present. I may be a good fit for those seeking a personalized therapy experience, exploring intersectional identities, or interested in integrating art into talk therapy. I speak fluent English and conversational Korean, and welcome clients who are comfortable with this level of language support.
Speaking Korean lightly is welcome! I am a good fit for clients who are comfortable mixing Korean and English. While I can engage in everyday conversations in Korean, it may be difficult to clearly express everything in in-depth conversations, crisis situations, diagnoses, and treatment planning, as well as other important therapeutic discussions. Ideally, the burden of translation or language adaptation should not fall on the client. If this sounds like a fit for you, feel free to reach out!Office Locations:
