Churan Wu, Pre-LPC
Pre-Licensed Professional CounselorIf you find yourself pondering questions like “Why am I having those thoughts, feelings, or urges?” or “what do I truly want for my life?”, you’re not alone. In our ever-changing world, our perceptions and experiences constantly evolve, and understanding them can be both challenging and enlightening. As your therapist, I aim to be another pair of eyes, offering new perspectives on the issues you face and supporting your growth in a culturally sensitive, nonjudgemental, authentic, and encouraging environment.
As an Asian therapist, I am deeply committed to supporting marginalized individuals and couples who are navigating a variety of challenges, such as stress management, self-esteem issues, interpersonal problems, gaining subjectivity, and overcoming trauma. I have extensive experience working with ethnic minorities and international students to address issues of cultural adaptations, self-esteem issues, identity exploration, and life transitions. I am bilingual and provide counseling in both Mandarin (Chinese) and English.
I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, with a minor in Education and Educational Services. I am currently a second-year master’s student at Northwestern University. My approach incorporates mindfulness practices, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), humanistic principles, multicultural lens, Narrative Therapy, solution-focused approach, and psychodynamic theories. These methods can help you unravel your story, understand your deeper feelings, and build a more authentic and satisfying life. You are enough by just showing up, and I will meet you where you are.
