  • Abbas Chinoy, MDiv, LCSW

    Abbas is a first-generation, South Asian American and a lifelong Chicagoan who offers unique insights, curiosity, and a compassionate presence.

    Before becoming a therapist, Abbas worked as a spiritual caregiver in hospital and hospice settings including Rush University Medical Center and Lurie Children’s Hospital. Abbas has over 15 years of experience on clinical, interdisciplinary teams.

     

    Abbas has Masters degrees in Divinity and Social Work from the University of Chicago and holds certificates in Health Administration and Policy (GPHAP) and Trauma-Informed Care from the University of Chicago. Abbas is also a PEERS® Certified Provider for Young Adults. Abbas is a candidate in the Sokolov Executive MBA program at University of Chicago's Booth School of Business.

     

    Abbas is the owner of Very Very Mentorship PLLC, a private practice that provides clients with evidence-based care and offers clinical supervision. Additionally, Abbas is a member of Dr. Paul Holmes' team at EMP LLC, where he helps train and educate rising professionals and seasoned practitioners in the field in contextual behavioral therapies. Abbas co-teaches Motivational Interviewing at The University of Chicago Crown Family School of Social Work, Policy, and Practice.

     

    Out of the office, Abbas loves anything to do with space and sci-fi, dogs, and helping his indoor plants thrive. Abbas is President of the Board of Directors at KEEN Chicago, where he loves supporting their mission to empower disabled youth.
